The identity of the attacker who killed 2 people and injured 14 people as a result of an armed attack on a nightclub in Oslo, the capital of Norway, has been announced. It was stated that the 42-year-old attacker, who was reported to be a Norwegian citizen of Iranian descent, was arrested. Officials stated that the attacker had a criminal record and stated that there were suspicions that his mental health was not in place.

“The suspect did not give any reasons for the attack. It is too early to decide whether this was a hate crime or terrorism,” his lawyer, John Christian Elden, said in a statement.

It was reported that a suspect believed to be the sole perpetrator of the attack was caught.

Police spokesman Tore Barstad said the scene of the crime stretched from the nightclub to the street and the suspect was caught minutes after he opened fire.
